Upon graduating from BYU Hawaii with a degree in Exercise Science LJ took a year off before pursuing a professional basketball career in the Philippines. In 2017 he was drafted by the Marinerong Pilipino Skippers in the PBA D-League draft while working on his dual citizenship papers. After a year year in the Philippines, he returned home due to an immigration issue. He immediately got back to work and accepted a coaching job under Head Coach David Evans at Wasatch Academy. He spent 2 years at Wasatch as an assistant coach on the national team and head-coaching the JV team. After Wasatch, he most recently took the Head Assistant coaching job at RSL Academy (2020). He is currently still under the direction of Head Coach David Evans and has goals of being able to coach his own program someday.

LJ specializes in skill work, player development, scouting, and film breakdown. His “back to the basics” approach focuses on the fundamentals of the game and evolving your game to become a complete player. His goal is to instill confidence by preparing you for in-game situations through drills and repetition. Your preparation is the key to your success.

Your basketball journey as a player is a long one and no one understands that more than LJ. His passion comes from being able to pass on his knowledge as a player and coach and work on the day-to-day process…getting better. He enjoys the opportunity to help grow the game and assist players with the tools they need to be able to reach their basketball goals. The lessons the game teaches will not only benefit the players he trains not only on the court but later on in life. The relationships LJ holds with the players he has come into contact with stretch far beyond basketball.
